Fantastic, original sound! Definitely deserves to be on the front page!

TheMoebiusProject responds:

Thanks a lot!! :D.

This is pretty sweet! I really like your subtle blend of instruments to really get across a space western feel.

The only criticism that really stuck out for me was the violin at :23 was a little muddy or blended wrong. It doesn't sit too well in the mix, like its too spread out or not in the right place with the panning.

Other than that I love it! Please keep making music!

This is pretty sweet! I especially like your unique synths going on.

The only thing that keeps this from being 5 for me is some of the mixing and mastering. Its really kind of muddy. That snare is kind of thick and doesn't go as well with the rest of the song I dont think. Maybe there's just a little too much delay and reverb, its overwhelming to the heavy hits. It gets so busy in the song with the reverb and stuff that you can barely tell what's going on in some parts.

Keep making music sir or madam!

Sir*

Been at it for 7.5 years, and just decided to remaster a lot of old dubs so I can sell myself out to the industry while I work on my actually new project set to release in December.

I feel it all fits the theme nicely, but I did just go back once more. Hopefully it sounds less muddy, now.

Pretty sweet! It reminds me of good ol' SNES games!

The only complaint I could have is that the bass feels a little heavy, and I guess there's not enough high as well. It makes the song seem less sharp.

You have a fantastic singing voice! While the audio quality isn't so hot I can't really fault you for that, it actually adds to the ethnic worldly feel. I will definitely be listening for more of your stuff!

thank you so much for your nice advice and your comment.. Actually, my recording device is not so good at all.. i'm just using my mobile phone for recording..hehe.. :) thank you so much for following me and listening to my song covers.. :)

Unlike a lot of people on here I do like that you didn't make everything so loud that it blows out my headphones and gives me a headache lol. But besides that the song isn't so hot.

Like, for starters, the sounds you chose are okay. I like the drums but the synths or patches or whatever you used aren't good enough to repeat all day. And all you really did was drop different parts in and out throughout the song.

If I were you I'd check out other electronic artists on NG. You may think they make cool stuff because of more expensive equipment or schooling or something but it really is just skill that lets you make good songs.

Keep making music man!

inhaleghost responds:

thanks for criticts

This is really really bad. The mixing is incredibly muddy where I can barely tell how many instruments are playing there's just noise. All the instruments are incredibly fake and are not only not convincing but just sound bad. That soloy guitar sounds more like an 8-bit Nintendo synth.

The only upside to me is that it is apparent that you are trying some composition, but that being said its not really amazing. Its very random and never seems to return to the same thing or have any stucture.

I'd just recommend checking out other heavy metal artists on here and see how good you can get.

Keep making music man!

About the mixing being muddy - that can change once the vocals are added.

As for the Instruments - I have to work with what I got, and unfortunately you managed to point out a fallacy that is hard to fix on a tight budget - lack of equipment. On the solos themselves - I can mess with the velocity a little bit as well as the type, but don't know if I can get a good mix without that synth coming through.

As for the structure - again, falls back to the vocals being missing. Also - some of the structure is well hidden - might cause you to think there's not, but there is lots more to it than you think - probably a bad mixing issue between the solos and the rhythm areas. Again, will look into that when the vocals are added. Also - check the drum rounds, they can give a clue as to what is going on structure wise. The third chorus is to setup the outro of the song...

Thanks for the heads up on the mixing issue.

Wow dude I really did not expect you to do this so well!

I was going to criticize the use of Half-life 2 sounds since its not the most original idea, but once the chorus came in it hit me that this song would work perfectly in Half-Life 2. It has just the right amount of build, chorus, and falling to work perfectly in an action sequence in Half Life 2.

I will say the sounds a re used a little much, the beginning is great but the the song really needed a bit of a break at some point.

Besides that I really like your finished song.

MrBigglesworthMusic responds:

Thanks! I kinda chucked the half life samples for shits and giggles and ended up liking them, and I can't really do much else with the bassline, it's a manipulated arpreggio from my minibrute. In hindsight recording the patch a little more would've been smart, but I never thought it'd be a full song sooo, yeah

There's nothign wrong with using stock sounds, but this is the defaultiest of the default sounds used in about the way I'd expect anyone to use them. So I guess the sound just wasn't interesting me since I had really heard it all before lol.

I do like some of the synths as well but I know those are just like sytrus or some vst's preset for 303 and acid.

The mixing is alright though like that guy said. Though I think somewhere in the mid-highs its a little loud.

I guess my biggest problem with this song is that it doesn't sound very unique at all to me. If it had a really kickin' composition then it'd be fine, but that was pretty standard as well.

Keep making music man!

SlaughterClub responds:

i know what you mean this took 5mins to make program & record live. i only could be bothered to program one acid pattern one beat them the rest was presets on rebirth tb338 just made for fun real quick .. thanks for stopping by tho peace ;-0

First off, the composition of the song itself is not too bad. I really like the key you're working in and the synths and things you use sound pretty unique.

That being said, your mixing and mastering really kills your song. What could've been a pretty kickin' song ends up being an overly bassy dance song without any umph. The snare/clap is really not thick or smacky enough to cause any excitement. Overall the sound becomes really muddy when everything is together.

Its not the worst but it really sticks out when you have what could be a pretty killer song but it's muddiness ends up ruining what could've been an exciting dark dance song.

I would definitely practice on your mixing and mastering, because you do a lot of other things better than other people. You use good synths and samples, and you even did a good usage of chop drums in the middle there for the break. It just doesn't have much power all mixed together.

Keep making music good sir or madam!

I am a music producer with a (modest) studio and can compose, mix, and master. Will take any work and/or advice to improve. I'd be up for scoring any games or videos if anyone asks!
