Awesome! Now to make it more so

I really like what you have here, it sounds spectacular! A great beat that for whatever reason didn't get very repetitive lol and I really enjoyed it. Now what I have to say is that the lows seem to actually be a little overpowering in this song, it's drowning out the mid and some high frequencies, and overall muddying the song up a bit. If you try to use a mulitband compressor (if you didn't already, I wouldn't know) than that would help alot to allow you to tone down the lows. Overall though great sounds coming through here, you just need to try and make the most out of them through post production type stuff.

Keep making music man!

BrAxTrax responds:

Oops, my bad. I actually turned bass up a bit much in this song, because my speakers at the time had no bass at all in them. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!

Sweet beat but...

If anything is lacking here, it's definetely in the mastering and mixing. You are seriously blowing out all the decibels you possibly can lol. It doesn't help most of the time to butt rape your beat (not matter how cool it is). But the actual sounds seem pretty sweet and I would love to hear it without all the frequencies clashing so much lol. But yeah pretty much the flaw you have here is like it's just not mastered and mixed well enough, the song is clipping pretty crazy.

If you figure out how though, your songs will sound even more amazing right! There's nothing wrong with learning new stuff to improve your songs, and there's nothing wrong with not knowing it now but always try to improve.

Sounds great though, definetely keep making music :D

BrAxTrax responds:

Lol thanks :p I was actually going insane trying to fix the clipping and frequency problems, I just don't have the knowledge yet :p but thanks for the review :)

Sweet sounds, very unique

I love it dude, this is some really unique stuff that progresses really nice and brings out some nice sounds. You done a pretty sweet job on here, the only thing I could really say is that you should try to do something a little more dramatic or eye (or really ear) catchingly amazing. A nice pad that fills all the dramatic chords after a long pause would really hit people good. Don't be afraid to change stuff up after you already have an amazing beat.

Keep making music man sounds amazing!

Insanctuary responds:

Thankyou! I enjoy these reviews. :D I am still in the early stages of development with this concept; thus, this is only the beginning. :D

Ambient & Experimental structuring will soon be together! :D

AWESOME!

Dude I've never heard you before, and I absolutely love what you've done here! Sweet dubstep sounds that go beyond the average sound enough for you to sound unique. Wub is a great way to describe your wobbly basses, and also your vocals are like perfect. I love whenever people do something unexpected for a buildup. And yeah the trolls can suck it.

Keep making music bro! You're freaking awesome!

Oh but I just spotted, the bass kick actually sounds like it got ducked pretty bad in one part just saying (trying to help somehow).

But other than that AWESOME SONG I LOVE IT! :D

TIMarbury responds:

yea in the end the bass kick gets ducked on some of those effects. <.> OH NOES. yea its cool though. Thanks for the review. Got more stuff on the way. I like to use stutter effects in my dubstep, makes it more unique in my opinion. glad you enjoyed it :D! great review btw :), enjoyed reading it.

Sweet skills!

I think you've done a pretty good job scoring something like this, I personally kind of suck at thinking of things like this. It's got some really nice progression and is written pretty sweet with a nice growing intensity like your looking at something awe inspiring but equally dangerous showing it's face, it really fits well with what you've aimed for. The only complaint I can really give it that you haven't really mixed and mastered this to a nice clean sound, it sounds a little mudded (or possibly your soundfonts or what not are mudded up) and if you try to bring those out or work harder on it it can improve your song dramatically. I recommed actually taking a look at any youtube videos for stuff like that, but FL Studio Guru always helped me (specifically his videos on compresssion and EQing)

MykelTDT responds:

True, I didn't spend much time perfecting the sound quality, the program I used doesn't make it easy. Most time on these three was spent getting the rhythm right (they were recorded in real time track by track over several takes) and Provoking the Mystic took a few days just to do that. You're the second person to tell me to clean up the audio and make the melody clearer though, so I'm thinking maybe I should invest a little more time in that. O_o Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah dude! Awesome!

Dude I love it. You actually have done a really good job of making hip hop (most dudes here suck at it, no offense to those who try). You got a nice chorus (and a girl singer really helps), but your rapping is pretty beast too. The only complaint I really have is in the mixing and the mastering. I think some of the layered vocals you have don't match up perfectly or are a little under mixed (lack of reverb and stuff). It doesn't sound too awesome when ever someone hits an awesome and there seems to be a lack of echo you can actually here. But at it's core it sounds pretty sweet, and you got some great skills man. Keep making music dude!

DocSmurf responds:

You know i listened to this song over and over and didnt notice till u mentioned it
it does need more reverb(slightly) will get my guy to tweak it a bit thanks for the help.
and theres two rappers and two singers.
will post lyrics later tonight i hope.

Yo dawg this perty good!

You have some sweet sounds here with good energy (lol) and nice changes! Since the song is only like 2 minutes there really isn't a huge desire to have massive changes but trust me it never hurts. The only thing I could really complain about is that the mastering doesn't actually let the basses fly through very much, they feel a little restricted like the mids are doing more for the basses than any of the lows (maybe you could do a sub bass with really low notes along with the regular bass, a trick I thought to use back in my song Countdown). But otherwise this is an awesome song! Keep making music and you'll totally get better! :D

quadx responds:

sweet thanks i would have never thought of that i couldnt figure out why my bass felt so weak ill try the tip in future songs. again thanks

Sweet writing!

This is pretty good actually! Espeically since it's Garageband lol. I think that if you had some better stuff you could really do alot more. I would recommend Reason or Fruity Loops, you'll be able to blow people away with those programs (there's a free demo for fruity loops that won't let you save but will let you export songs and work with all their synths and more)

I think that the song itself is actually pretty cool, the quality actually makes it sound like some B video game music for the playstation or the N64 lol. You change it up plenty and have nice progression which is great, but I do wish you could do something a little more with the melody in a very dramatic way (but that's just me).

Keep making music man!

masterjiji responds:

I think the main reason it has the older-school feel is the emptiness of the sonic space right when the low choral comes in at 00:16. While it does build from there, I agree that it ain't top-notch quality. While the instrumentation itself I think is awesome, it lacks in that it doesn't sound "full."

BALLER!

You've changed up alot of stuff! I really like your core progression and the nice changes in the beat and then cutting off the beat! It's great keep working on it!

This is great but...

You really have a nice sound going here, but I think your problems shine after four minutes lol. While usually ambient you can take it alot slower on the melodic side and let a simple chord do its job for the longest time, it doesn't seem to cut it as well with your bass synth going back and forth between the two same notes. Regardless how we'll you spiced up your break drums (which you did just fine :D). But what really nails people is not only how well you use a chord but when you change one and maybe add a little something to make them go "wow this song is incredible". It's that change in progression that really feels perfect in a song when you do it right. The sound is great you just need to try and change up the chord at some point.

Also on a personal note, I'm not to big on your drums or really your mixing in general. The mids are like being pumped and the lows aren't defined super well. I'm really wanting to hear some nice high notes (but if that's just data size or soething that's cool).

Overall though great song, there's just a few things you can do to take it to the next level :D

EvilArtForm responds:

hey thanks for the detailed feedback. i appreciate it.

I am a music producer with a (modest) studio and can compose, mix, and master. Will take any work and/or advice to improve. I'd be up for scoring any games or videos if anyone asks!
